Food and Drug Supervisory Agency or abbreviated as BPOM is a government institution in Indonesia that is responsible for overseeing the distribution of drugs and food in Indonesia. The task and authority of BPOM RI is greater than the Center for Supervision of Drugs and Food (BBPOM), because the scope of supervision of drugs and food throughout Indonesia. While BBPOM its scope only oversees the region.

Food and Drug Administration Agency (BPOM) has the duty of melakasanakan government tasks in the field of supervision of drugs and food in accordance with the provisions of applicable legislation.

The Food and Drug Administration has the following functions:

1. Assessment and formulation of national policies in the field of drug and food supervision.

2. Implementation and certain policies in the field of drug and food supervision.

3. Coordination of functional activities in carrying out BPOM duties

4. Monitoring the provision of guidance and coaching on the activities of government agencies and the public in the field of medicine and food.

Running the function of the Food and Drug Control Agency has the authority, namely:

1. Preparation of national plans in macro field

2. Formulating policies in their fields to support macro development

3. Determination of information systems in the field

4. Determination of requirements for the use of certain additives (additives) for food and the establishment of drug and food circulation monitoring guidelines

5. Provision of licenses and supervision of drug distribution and supervision of the pharmaceutical industry

6. Establish guidelines on the use of conservation, development and monitoring of medicinal plants

BPOM in the distribution permit of drinking water products in the production of each company, should also consider the criteria of companies or factories that produce bottled water in the packaging. Company criteria that can be produced in bottled drinking water include;

1. Minimum requirements companies must have a laboratory

2. Good building, equipment and production procedures in accordance with SNI requirements

3. Production materials shall be in accordance with SNI
